Education and Awards

Back in 1992 Tamian graduated with highest honours from Miami Dade College with a degree in Computer Science. From 1987 through 1992 she earned dean's list recognition and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honour Society. Later in 1992 she was awarded a position on the National Dean's List.

She then attended COMPrehend! Computer Education Centers in Ft. Lauderdale, to hone her skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark and continued with classes in Freehand and Macintosh System 7 troubleshooting.

In 2000 she went back to college to earn a second degree in Graphic Arts Technology, and was awarded the "Outstanding Student in Graphic Design" award in 2003. During the three years Tamian was the layout designer and illustrator for the Miambiance Literary Magazine, published by MDC, Kendall Campus, the magazine won 102 awards.

Of the 37 awards she received personally, Tamian is most proud of the 17th Annual Florida Print Awards, Best of Category in 2004, the Best Design award from FCCAA State Publications, for 2001, 2002 and 2003, and the 2002 Design of the year award from Adobe Systems, Inc./Associated Collegiate Press. The magazine, as a whole, earned the title of first place National and first place in the Southern Region in the Community College Humanities Association Literary Magazine competition and the Silver Crown Award from Columbia Scholastic Press Association, for the first time in the history of the college.
